Culinary Arts Pathway
The Culinary Arts program equips students with essential skills for food production and service in commercial establishments. Graduates will learn about food planning, purchasing, preparation, and service, alongside safety, sanitation, and equipment use. The program also fosters critical thinking, career development, and leadership skills necessary for culinary arts careers.
The Culinary Arts program prepares students for entry-level jobs and further education in roles like line cook, server, and dishwasher. It includes formal instruction, experiential learning, supervised work experience, and skill development through FCCLA participation.
Program Completer:
- Students must have completed 2 years of Culinary Art courses.
DCE Culinary Arts:
- Must be a program completer.
- This course employs a Diversified Cooperative Education (DCE) methodology, with one teacher overseeing students across various program areas, to integrate school-based and supervised work experiences aligned with Culinary Arts Program standards.
Culinary Arts 1 | This course emphasizes meal planning for good nutrition and preparation of a variety of foods. Kitchen sanitation and safety, tools and appliances, cooking terms, following recipes, and preparation of the basic food groups are included. Students will also learn about the food service industry. |

Culinary Arts 2 | This advanced class is for the student wishing to pursue a career in the food service industry. Many advanced techniques and fine tuning of skills are taught. The art of preparing pastries, soups, sauces, and classical cuisine are just some of the things taught in this class. additional industry training including the operation of commercial equipment, and mastery of kitchen tools & knives. The students will master proper table service as well as the art of customer service through catering. |
