DRA 0100/01002: Drama A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)
Introduction to Theatre. Whether you were a born drama queen or an introvert looking to break out of your comfort zone, this class is ideal for mastering the art of public speaking and performance. Fall Semester will cover all the fundamentals, including, but not limited to, History of Theatre, Stage Directions, Audition Techniques, vocal control, movement, characterization, memorization, and improvisation. We will write and perform our own monologues, scenes, and even short scripts. Spring Semester will focus on the specialized skills of theatre, such as accents, stage combat, and musical theatre. The course will culminate in an in -class production, performed for the school.

DRA 0101/0102: Stagecraft 1 A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)
Introduction to Technical Theatre. If you prefer to hide in the shadows, rather than stand in the spotlight, this is the class for you. Focusing on the skills you need to run tech for events in and out of schools, Fall Semester will include a tour of the facility, how to operate lights, sound, and spotlights, and how to hang objects and safely fly them onstage. In addition, there will be project based units such as special effects makeup and sewing. Spring Semester will focus on painting techniques, stage management, hand and power tools, and dramaturgy.

DRA 0201/0202: Stagecraft 2 A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)
Intermediate Technical Theatre. Fall Semester will build on the skills of Stagecraft I, covering additional topics such as building doors, stairs, and revolving platforms, tying knots, and preparing for Regional and State Competition. Students will also complete the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification in this class. In Spring Semester, the focus will be on design and production, with students choosing their own play to create a production book and design portfolio for, and the opportunity for one designer to student direct an in-class production.

DRA 0301/0302: Stagecraft 3 A/B

Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)
Advanced Technical Theatre. With a college and career focus, the students of Stagecraft III spend class time building the sets for all productions at KHS, operating lights and sound for events in the KHS Auditorium, researching colleges and degrees (or business internships and certifications for employment) suitable for the students’ chosen career, and completing independent projects around the theatre. There are also internship opportunities available to Stagecraft III students with our industry partners.

DRA0322: DCE Stagecraft

Credits 0.5

This course utilizes Diversified Cooperative Education (DCE) methodology, one teacher responsible for students within multiple program areas, to combine school-based and supervised work-based learning experiences related to the standards identified for the Stagecraft Program.
