Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)If you prefer to hide in the shadows, rather than stand in the spotlight, this is the class for you. Focusing on the skills you need to run tech for events in and out of schools, Fall Semester will include a tour of the facility, how to operate lights, sound, and spotlights, and how to hang objects and safely rig them onstage. In addition, there will be project based units such as special effects makeup, prop building, basic flat construction and sewing. Spring Semester will focus on painting techniques, stage management, hand and power tools, and dramaturgy.
DRA 0201/0202: Stagecraft 2 A/B
Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)Fall Semester will build on the skills of Stagecraft I, covering additional topics such as building doors, stairs, and revolving platforms, tying knots to safely hang heavy objects over the stage, Advance audio production, lighting and preparing for Regional and State Competition. Students will also complete the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification in this class. In Spring Semester, the focus will be on design and production, with students choosing their own play to create a production book and design portfolio for, also learning how to record in house sounds and audio for a student made productions
DRA 0301/0302: Stagecraft 3 A/B
Credits 1.0 (0.5 Credits Per Semester)With a college and career focus, the students of Stagecraft III spend class time building the sets for all productions at KHS, operating lights and sound for events in the KHS Auditorium, researching colleges and degrees (or business internships and certifications for employment) suitable for the students’ chosen career, and completing independent projects around the theatre. There will also be an opportunity to direct and produce a play.
DRA0322: DCE Stagecraft
Credits 0.5This course utilizes Diversified Cooperative Education (DCE) methodology, one teacher responsible for students within multiple program areas, to combine school-based and supervised work-based learning experiences related to the standards identified for the Stagecraft Program.
