Digital Communications Pathway
The Digital Communications program trains students in news gathering, processing, and delivery across various print and online formats, including newspapers, blogs, and new media. Graduates will gain skills in news writing, editing, reporting, photojournalism, graphic design, media management, and equipment maintenance.
The Digital Communication program prepares students for entry-level jobs and further education in various roles, including Advertising Associate, Content Creator, Journalist, Editor, Graphic Designer, Public Relations Specialist, and more.
Program Completer:
- Students must complete Digital Communications 1 and 2.
DCE Digital Communications:
- Must be a program completer.
- This course employs a Diversified Cooperative Education (DCE) methodology, with one teacher overseeing students across various program areas to integrate school-based and supervised work-based learning for the Digital Communications Program standards.

The Digital Communication instructional program prepares students to gather, process, and deliver news through a variety of print and online formats, including video, vlogs, weblogs (blogs), YouTube, digital/video news, school magazines and other traditional and new media platforms. Students will work with Adobe and other industry recognized software and apps. |

Digital Communications 2 | The Digital Media & Design curriculum aligns with CTE Digital Communication standards, allowing learners to explore digital media processes and techniques. The course aims to raise awareness of digital media, enhance creative and critical evaluation skills, encourage innovative problem-solving, expand knowledge of designers and concepts, and prepare students for further education and industry collaboration. Participation in FBLA also helps students develop leadership, social, civic, and career skills. |
Industry Certifications | Adobe Certifications that cover areas such as Visual Effects (After Effects), Animation (Animate), Web Authoring (Dreamweaver), Graphic Design (Illustrator), Media Publication (InDesign), Visual Design (Photoshop), and Digital Video (Premiere Pro). They also include AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Google UX Design Certificate. |
