Welding Pathway
The Welding Technologies program equips students with welding techniques and product verification through weldment testing. It covers blueprint reading and various welding processes, including SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW, along with the use of thermal cutting equipment. Students will also learn about the tools and equipment used in the welding trade.
The Welding Technologies program prepares students for entry-level employment, further training, and/or postsecondary education for these and other occupations: Construction Welder, Shipyard Welder, Metal Cutters, Automated Welder Operators, Structural Iron and Steel Worker, Pipefitter, Boilermakers, Aerospace, Agriculture, Automotive, Chemical Processing, and Manufacturing
Program Completer:
- Students must have completed Ag Welding and WAVE: Fillet Welding Certificate.
Industry Certifications:
- Can earn any of the following Certificates: Fillet Welding, GMAW/FCAW Plate, GMAW/FCAW Pipe, GRAW Plate, GTAW Pipe, SMAW Plate, SMAW Pipe.
Ag Welding | This course offers an in-depth look at the welding fabrication industry, focusing on shop safety and O.S.H.A. guidelines. Students gain hands-on experience with welding techniques like SMAW and GMAW, learn tool identification, cutting operations, and artistic welding. Graduates are prepared for apprenticeships as journeyman welders or further education for AWS certifications. |
WAVE: Filet Welding Certificate | Students must take the following courses: WLD 103: Welding Safety, Symbols, and Tools, WLD 104: Intro To Thermal Cutting and Welding, WLD 106: Intro to Welding Theory, and WLD 107: Fillet Welding. **Courses are offered at MCC.** |
